Skyrim Enhanced is a modlist that aims at improving roleplay and immersion while overall preserving the vanilla feel. I made it for my own game and, as usual, I'm sharing it with the community in the event someone else might like it, or even just enjoy reading it. It does not claim to be the best blacksm- a complete guide of any sort - I am no authority on modding tools and such, and there are better tutorials out there than I could write. It comes, however, with a good amount of notes, tweaks, and a custom patch to take care of a few issues. If you like even just some of these mods, it could come handy.
What is this all about?
Beside the unavoidable tweaks and fixes and a decent collection of visual mods, I focused on:
- mods that revamp and resue existing content, giving the game more depth in a seamless way
- subtle gameplay overhauls
- more choices to improve RP and avoid railroading: do what your character would do, not the only option available
- various small immersion mods, including...
- ...basic needs mechanics - no "survival minigame", I just wanted the environment to make sense and people to behave like people
- some of the best followers and companions, for your travels
- some additional quests, favoring those that, in my opinion, fit in better with the original game (see below)
What is this *not* about?
- Large quests mods that take you away from Skyrim and/or become the main focus of your adventure: there's no lack of awesome ones, but after a while I just wanted to play Skyrim again, which is why I ended up making this list
- Hardcore mods of doom - I'm good at getting killed anyway, I need no mod to help
- Mods that make Skyrim more like Dark Souls/Legend of Zelda/Resident Evil/Pac-Man (because in fact I want to play Skyrim)
- Overhauls of every single aspect of the game: sometimes I realized I just liked the vanilla option
- NSFW mods (although I'd rather not play Skyrim at work anyway ^^)
- NPC replacers that make everyone beautiful and perfect
Why are you doing this anyway?
Well, after I spent some time making custom patches, and writing down how-tos I could need again in the future, I thought I could as well share them. Also I like writing lists.
Ok, let's say I like most of it, but am I supposed to download all mods?
Not really, the ones you need for the custom patch are specifically tagged, everything else is up to you. Although, some mods may rely on each other and some instructions are written with mutual compatibility in mind, so keep an eye on that. I also provided some information on what the Custom Patch does, in the event you want to edit it or would rather to your own patch for a different combination of mods.
Performance?
I play on a laptop that had questionable performance in vanilla, so I can't give any sort of advice on ideal setups of excellent smoothness - I can tell you, however, that it won't kill your potato. If you're on a low end PC, of course you should pick the 'performance' options whenever possible - almost all main textures I listed have some. The ENB is still the most demanding feature, but you can improve it a lot by disabling Ambient Occlusion and possibly a few more effects. On the other hand, if you have a good gaming PC... pick the best visual options and enjoy your life of leisure!

So the actual list?
Here we go! I listed all mods and their optional files, plus some notes when it was needed. Installation and configuartion notes may be optional, when they're just advices based on subjective preference, and recommended, when they're either required or anyway strongly suggested for compatibility. When no instruction is given it just means you can pick whatever you like (say, why should I tell you what colours your chicken should be?). Similarly, when different resolutions are available, choose depending on your performance needs and position on the potato scale. All instructions are based on Mod Organizer 2, I *suppose* you could do the same with Vortex but I never used it myself.
Ok I'm using the Custom Patch but I still have this issue...
Please tell me so I can go check and possibly update the patch!
