This mod is a stripped-down, tweaked, and ported version of Ghosu's Auriel Crossbow and Swords mod. Ghosu retired from modding a while back, but kindly opened up their mods as modders' resources. This mod aims to integrate the key weapon, Auriel's Crossbow, into the game as seamlessly as possible. It also includes accompanying bolt and quiver models.

So, what does this mod do?

Once the Dawnguard questline has been completed and the Arcane Blacksmith perk has been acquired, the crossbow can be welded together from Auriel's Bow at a forge. For this, you will also require refined moonstone and a daedra heart.

Sunhallowed and Bloodcursed Elven Bolts can also be forged from melting down their respective arrows, if the Arcane Blacksmith perk has been acquired. This is not quest-dependent, and they function apart from the added crossbow.

Auriel's Crossbow functions just as the bow does, with the sun effects occurring with the corresponding bolts. The crossbow can be melded back to the bow at a forge, requiring fire salts and a daedra heart.

The mod is ESL-Flagged.

An optional file to reduce the forge requirements has been added in 1.1. With it, Arcane Blacksmith perk is no longer required, and less materials are needed. The main Dawnguard questline still must be completed, obviously.

If you're looking just for a straight SE port of the mod with no integration, Korodic has made one here.

I highly suggest you accompany this mod with something like Special Perks from Questing, which adds more finality to the end of major questlines. When you receive the Dawnguard perk, you'll also now have the option to customize the bow.
