In mid-2019, I published a mod called Souls Do Things. It was designed as a lightweight means of making dragon souls useful. While the mod was perfectly playable in my own games, a common request I got after uploading it was the need for an MCM menu for convenience. It was a valid suggestion, as the original mod handled settings through globals set via console commands. However, I was relatively new to coding (I still am, I think), and I found it tedious that in order to make an MCM menu, I would have to change almost all of how the various perks, spells and magic effects interacted with each other to some extent.

It's been a bit over 6 months since I released that mod, and I finally found the time and motivation to give it a new crack. So here we are.

Souls Do Things 2 is my take on making excess dragon souls useful, ported from LE to SE. Stockpiled souls increase weapon and unarmed attack, shout duration and power. Lose souls on death to revive, or convert souls into perk points. More features in the works.

So what does this mod do?

Features//
=======
Dragon Soul Scaling//
================

Most mods I've seen that tackle dragon soul excess treat it as an expendable currency. My mod treats souls as a stat.

Attack Damage - Each soul you collect can be configured to increase your barehand and weapon-based attack damage. Ammunition does not benefit from this bonus, though bows and crossbows will.
Shout Power - Each soul you collect can be configured to increase shout power by x%.
Shout Duration - Each soul can be used to increase shout duration by x%.

Each value can be configured independently of every other value, and can even be capped.

Note 2: Currently, there is no setting for shout cooldown reduction as I found it a bit too overpowered given the amount of other things already in-game that can be stacked on top of it to get cooldown to 0. Let me know if you want this changed.


Dragon Soul Revival//
================

You're probably familiar with Death Souls, which revives the player upon entering bleedout. This was a nifty little mod that came with its own MCM menu and for the most part, did what it was supposed to do. Unfortunately, the mod author has not updated it in a while, and potential for more features is pretty much gone at this point. Another problem is that Death Souls' script makes use of the GetPlayer function, which is... at least as I understand it... slower than using a PlayerRef property.

So I studied Death Souls and its revival script and compared it against another one by mod author Narue in Dragon Soul Utils. Before you know it, I had made my first script. The result is a dragon soul revival feature that should be faster than Death Souls.

This revival feature is designed to pair with limited saving mods, or if you're up for it... Dead is Dead.

You may choose to disable this feature if you have death alternative mods installed.

Revive Modes//
============

Select which Revive Mode you want via a slider. 0 disables Revives. 1 will drain the number of souls specified via the Cost slider on revive. 2 will drain half the number of souls and requires the specified cost as a minimum required number of souls to revive. 3 will drain all souls on death, and follows the same minimum requirement rule as 2.

Super Mode//
=========

Super Mode is a setting that gives you a burst of power upon revival. Think of it as a last ditch effort to save your life after being pressed to a corner.  At the moment it casts Dragon Aspect while simultaneously producing a damaging and staggering explosion around the player. Also note: mods that alter the vanilla Dragon Aspect Arms, Body and Head magic effects and spells will affect Super Mode, provided that they add the MagicShout keyword to them. Vanilla Dragon Aspect is currently unaffected by duration and magnitude scaling due to it not using the MagicShout keyword. Please leave feedback on whether this should be changed.

Cooldown//
========

This slider allows you to specify in seconds, a cooldown period between revives.

Souls to Perk Points//
================
By request, you may now convert dragon souls into perk points via spell. This spell may be added or removed via MCM, or found in-game.

Possible in the Future//
=================

Turn revive function toggleable for compatibility with Death Alt mods. FOR COMPATIBILITY, DISABLE REVIVE FUNCTION VIA CONSOLE. PLAYER.REMOVESPELL XX014C19

Extend revive effect to NPCs under the dragonborn's protection?

Learning MCM to make one.

Brainstorming on other stuff.

Compatibilities and Performance//

This mod uses 3 scripts; one for the MCM, one for the player alias quest and one for the revival effect

IF USING DEATH ALTERNATIVE MODS, OR OTHER MODS THAT TRIGGER ON BLEEDOUT, ENTER IN THE CONSOLE: PLAYER.REMOVESPELL XX014C19

This may conflict with soul-based shout scaling of other mods (Actually... they may both work and make you OP. I couldn't say for sure. It depends on how the perks are set. But I know perks scale multiplcatively).

Recommended to try with Dead is Dead.

Compatible with custom and mod-added shouts... and any spell really that uses the MagicShout keyword in its magic effects.

1. I don't know. I don't own SE. This .esp was ported for SE by SirJesto at the Nexusmods Discord.



Uninstallation//
===========

1. Type player.removespell xx014C19 (xx is the mod index)
2. Save game.
3. Uninstall via preferred mod manager OR manually delete _SDT_ script files and the Souls Do Things .esp file.
USE A SAVE GAME CLEANER AFTER UNINSTALLATION OR LOAD A CLEAN SAVE.
