As stated in the description, this mod allows the heroes lost in the mist at Sovngarde to come to your aid during the final battle with Alduin. This was suggested by a user on Reddit and i thought it was a good idea, so i made this simple mod.
The conditions still have to be met.. e.g. completing companions quest line for Kodlak to be there.
There is a chance they can die in the mist before you clear it. I've not seen this happen yet, but there is a script which allows them to get devoured by Alduin (vanilla feature). This is disabled once you have cleared the mist and they cannot die during the final battle.
It can take the NPCs a little while to arrive to the battle. They run there from where you originally meet them and the falling debris from the sky can stagger them.
I recommend playing on high difficulty. Obviously you will have more help and don't want Alduin dying too easy, it also gives a chance for the NPCs to actually get to the battle.
These tweaks apply to all the heroes lost in the mist (Froki, Rikke, Ulfric, Galmar, Svaknir, High King Torygg and Kodlak).
After the battle they will just stand around where Alduin dies. (same as vanilla). I did consider changing this so that they go to the hall of valour, but thought it would be nice if they saw your return to Skyrim, instead of just walking off.
I recorded a quick video of the mod in action. Please note that i am level 1 and its on easy or something, hence why the fight is so easy. On Legendary High Levels, you can still expect a tough fight and will have to do all the work.
I have tested it as best as i can, but if there are any issues do let me know, and i'm also open to suggestions.
It is ESL flagged so it will not count towards load order.
Compatibility - Should be compatible with everything. It edits an AI package and a script which are only used in the Sovngarde quests. I'm not aware of any mods which do the same, but of course let me know and i can look at patches.
This mod does edit 2 NPC records, the MQ304 versions of Kodlak and Torygg. These changes are fairly minor, it gives Kodlak a sword (he doesn't have one by default) and i made Torygg's level scale between 10-30 (his default is lvl 1). If another mod edits these NPC records, then maybe it would overwrite these tweaks. Again let me know.
Returning to Sovngarde - If you do return to sovngarde, they will probably be still just standing around near the entrance. I don't know how many people return to sovngarde via mods or whatever, but if there is demand i can make a new package which will make them travel to the hall of valour after you return to skyrim.
What exactly it does/changes:
changes MQ305LostSoulToAlduin AI Package. This package makes the NPCs walk to where Alduin dies after he is defeated. I changed this so that they run towards the battle once the mist is cleared.
added a script fragment to the AI Package. By default the NPCs have unaggressive and cowardly AI data, which means they do not fight, so at the start of the package they are set to 'Aggressive' and 'Foolhardly'.
changes mq304lostsoulscript.pex. In vanilla, if one of these NPCs is hit by Alduin it removes them from the game (to emulate being devoured). I have merely added an extra conditional so that this does not happen once the mist is cleared.
changes MQ304Torygg and MQ304Kodlak NPC records. As stated previously, Torygg is lvl 1 by default so i gave him a slight boost and Kodlak has no weapon so i gave him a Skyforge Steel Sword.
