The aim of this mod is to limit the power of player-made enchantments by replacing the Fortify Enchanting with a useful, powerful, balanced, and lore-friendly alternative.

A New Effect
Replaces the Fortify Enchanting effect with a new alchemy/enchanting effect
that makes your existing weapon enchantments more powerul.

New Potions and Enchanted Armor
Replaces the Enchanter's Potion with the new Spellsword's Potion.
Adds two unique and disenchantable armor pieces: the Gauntlets of the Spellsword and the Ring of the Spellsword.

Requirements and Compatibility
No other mods or DLCs are required to use this mod, and it's fully compatible with all my mods.
It may be incompatible with other mods that affect the enchanting potions or the effects of enchanting ingredients.
It may clash with mods that change the interior of Silent Moon Camp. It won't clash with mods that change the appearance of ingredients, such as SMIM.
Place this mod lower in your load-order than any mods that might clash with it to avoid any issues.





A new effect called Fortify Enchantments has been added which does the following: 
"Weapon enchantments are <mag>% more powerful."


The new Fortify Enchantments effect does not affect armor enchantments. There are two reasons for this: 1) Armor enchantments are often based on percentages (e.g. 20% magic resistance) and so even small increased can cause dramatic, potentially over-powered effects, and 2) This could potentially lead to an exploit of enchantment stacking.

The Fortify Enchantments effect increases the magnitude of Destruction (e.g. more fire damage) and Conjuration (e.g. higher leveled targets can be banished) enchantments. It increases the duration of Illusion (e.g. targets run in fear for longer), Restoration (e.g. undead are repeled longer) and Conjuration (e.g. targets are soul trapped longer) enchantments.

It will affect all weapon enchantments, including staves, that have an effect that falls within a magic school (note: some weapon enchantments added by mods may not have an associated magic school and therefore won't be affected). Affected enchantments include those of the generic magic weapons, enchanted weapons created by the player, Daedric and Aedric artifacts, and even weapon enchantments added by other mods.



Alchemy
The alchemy effect, Fortify Enchanting ("For <dur> seconds, items are enchanted <mag>% stronger."), has been removed and replaced with the new Fortify Enchantments effect.

The Fortify Enchantments effect can be found in all the ingredients that previously had the Fortify Enchanting effect, such as Hagraven Claws, Spriggan Sap and Snowberries. The generic enchanting potions, including the Enchanter's Philter and the Enchanter's Elixer, have been renamed to reflect the change in effect and now have names like the Spellsword's Philter and Spellsword's Elixer.

Enchantments and Abilities
There is no Fortify Enchanting enchantment in the vanilla game, possibly to avoid effect stacking. However, because the Fortify Enchantments effect will only affect weapons, I see no reason why there shouldn't be an enchantment for this. So, I've added one.

There are two ways to obtain this enchantment. The first option is to obtain Bashnag's ring in Southfringe Sanctum (a vanilla location). This option may fail to spawn if you've already entered this cell as of installing the mod. For the second option, enter Silent Moons Camp (a vanilla location, see the images above for a map) where there is a spellsword bandit named Ozrog Spell-Hammer* who will be wearing a pair of leveled gauntlets enchanted with a Fortify Enchantments effect. Both the ring and the gauntlets can be disenchanted and used to make enchantments of your own. An enchanting table has also been added to the Silent Moons Camp interior cell, so you can disenchant on the spot if you want to.

Note that the Fortify Enchantments enchantment can only be applied to gauntlets, head-gear, rings and amulets.

There are no changes to the effects of the Seeker of Sorcery ability or the Ahzidal's Genius ability added by the Dragonborn DLC.

*Ozrog Spell-Hammer is a very tough enemy, so be prepared for a difficult fight. Apart from his unique leveled gauntlets, he will also carry a Steel Warhammer of Frosty Souls, which has a new unique enchantment called Frosty Soul Trap.



V1.1 Update
- Boss label removed from Ozrog Spell-Hammer to prevent bugs associated with radiant quests
- The enchantment effect is now coloured (I'd forgotten to give it a colour previously)
- Effect has been changed so it requires no scripting...the mod is now completely script-free
- I've added variations of a Ring of the Spellsword, which can be looted from Bashnag in Southfringe Sanctum
- Version name removed from .esp file (this has been done to ensure all future updates can have the same name without causing confusion. Apologies to anyone inconvenienced by this change, which I've made to prevent any future inconvenience)
