Are you tired of effortlessly scything through hordes of hapless civil war soldiers? Do you wish drilled Imperials and hardy Stormcloaks were capable of putting up a proper fight? Do you want to make your Imperials a tad more lore friendly and interesting. If so, this is the mod for you.
Immersive Legionnaires is a simple mod with simple execution. Its primary aim is to confer significant combat buffs to all Imperial and Stormcloak soldiers. This is accomplished by increasing their level, health, stamina, combat skills, and perks. I have slightly favored Imperials when it comes to buffs. The difference isn't huge, engagements won't be one sided affairs. I'm an Imperial fanboy, sue me.
The secondary aim is to rename all Imperial soldiers found in the game. Imperial troops found in camps, forts, and random encounters are renamed to Imperial Legionnaires. This is done to reflect their status as fully fledged soldiers of the Imperial Legion. Imperial soldiers taking over peacekeeping roles in captured cities are renamed to Imperial Auxiliaries. A quick conversation with an Imperial guard in a reclaimed city will tell you they're locally raised militia, not imported soldiery.
The third aim is the most minor. Imperial Legionnaires are front line troops. Therefore, they are better equipped than auxiliary troops. All Imperial Legionnaires now spawn with Studded Imperial Armor and an Imperial Light Shield. Bethesda's choice to not include shields in their leveled lists always bothered me. Imperial Auxiliaries spawn with Imperial Light Armor without a shield. They're guards, not regulars. A shield would only be a hindrance in their role as peacekeepers, and there's no need to waste perfectly good mail on rear echelon militia.

This mod is extremely lightweight, and was accomplished solely with minor CC tweaks. No new AI packages, no deletions, no scripts.
